June 26, 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JOINT NEWS RELEASE
LAFAYETTE - The trial of a public records suit was amicably resolved today by an agreement between the two parties.
The agreement requires the plaintiffs to specify, with particularity, the documents which they wish to review. That itemized list would be presented to the City and would prioritize the documents in the order of importance to the plaintiffs.
Within ten (10) days of receipt, the City would respond to the request by confirming the existence of the documents and or, if such is the case, that the documents do not exist. Further, and if necessary or appropriate, the City will make any objections to information as privileged or not subject to inspection under Louisiana law.
Thereafter, the plaintiffs will propose a schedule as to when the documents can be inspected and copied, if desired. Inspection will be permitted in a manner which is not disruptive to the functioning of government offices. In that regard, the parties will have agreed to cooperate with each other in good faith to accomplish the inspection of documents in an expeditious manner. |
